Frequently Asked Questions

How do we get a Marriage License?

We include a handout with all of the necessary information on getting a Marriage License in our packet that you receive at our initial meeting. If you honor us by having us serve as your officiants, we keep you posted on what you need to do and when you need to do it so that the Marriage License is never an issue!

Where do you perform weddings?

We can perform weddings in any venue you choose. Whether it’s the Assembly Chambers in the State Capitol Building or in your own backyard, whatever location your dream includes is great. One of our grooms even entered on a zip line at Paradise Park! Find a location that fits the style and feel you want to express and we will be there!

Can we write our own wedding vows?

Absolutely! Writing your own vows makes your ceremony even more personal. If you prefer to use prewritten vows, we have pages of vows from which to choose or mix and match. If you want guidance, we are here to help you.

Can we include rituals from our culture?

Couples appreciate our knowledge of many different cultures and our willingness to include cultural traditions and rituals that are very important to you. Past rituals we have included are a Japanese Tea Ceremony, a Mexican “El Lasso” ritual, and an African Broom Jumping at the end of the ceremony. For those couples who wish to include some traditions from their heritage, we wholeheartedly embrace these wonderful and interesting rituals.

Do you require premarital counseling?

No. We do offer spiritual counseling as an add-on option for those who want it, but it is totally voluntary, and most couples choose not to do it. It is usually four one-hour sessions but this is flexible.

Do you officiate other events?

We do! We are delighted to speak with you about a meaningful vow renewal, commitment ceremony, or civil union, including ceremonies for same-sex couples. We have also performed baby blessings and baptisms for many couples we’ve married.

Do the two of you ever officiate ceremonies together?

Yes, and we love doing so. We provide gender balance to match that of the Bride and Groom and we bring different energies and styles to make the ceremony an even more unique experience. If both of us are available, there is a fee to add the second officiant.

Do we need a rehearsal?

A processional and recessional “walk-through” is included as an option at no extra cost with all weddings. We will arrive at least one and a half hours before the ceremony begins to make sure everyone knows what to do. If you prefer to have a rehearsal before the wedding day, we add that to your package for an additional fee. Walk-throughs and rehearsals help the participants get over their jitters but are not necessary. We cue every aspect of the ceremony to make sure everything goes smoothly.
